Radiohead | SPERock – CC BY-NC-ND
I saw Radiohead at the Hollywood Bowl last night, having rushed around all of LA to snag up Craigslisted tickets, and it was beyond worth it. They played for over two hours and sounded absolutely amazing. Truly the most accomplished live act I think I have ever seen. I can’t believe they get such a huge sound out of so many instruments and they have clearly overcome the traditional notion of being a ‘band’.
A highlight for me was the transition they did from “Faust Arp” into a cover of my all-time favorite Neil Young song, “Tell Me Why”. I found this video on YouTube (UPDATED: A real dope video via GvB [although this is the first time I have actually beaten him to a story]), don’t know how long it will stay up there, but hopefully it won’t move. There is a bit of talking at the beginning but it dies down quickly:

Radiohead: "House of Cards (Lego Time-Lapse)" VIDEO
What is it that pushes people to take exuberant amounts of time to remix Radiohead visually? No matter the answer, we – the digital consuming public – are better for these efforts. The bizarre explination available at CDM:
James Houston: "Big Ideas (Don't get any)" Video
The best Radiohead “Nude” remix I have heard (no easy feat considering Holy Fuck’s brilliant effort). + this video and it is one of the coolest things I have seen in a while. The equipment being used:
Sinclair ZX Spectrum – Guitars (rhythm & lead)
Epson LX-81 Dot Matrix Printer – Drums
HP Scanjet 3c – Bass Guitar
Hard Drive array – Act as a collection of bad speakers – Vocals & FX
I also disagree with Houston’s claim that “It doesn’t sound great, as it’s not supposed to” – it sounds absolutely majestic and I think it was always meant to sound that way. Get through the intro and you will see what I mean.

Radiohead: "Scotch Mist" WEBCAST
This is really amazing (who knew they used a 909 on “Videotape“?). The writers over at RCRD LBL have it half right, astutely pointing out that with In Rainbows, Radiohead have become “one big experimental think tank of musical interaction”. This said, I disagree with the idea that previously they were only a “semi-interesting rock band”.

Webcams on bike helmets. These guys are unstoppable right now in terms of consistent digital output.
IN RAINBOWS LIVES
JESUS WOW. Unreal. I’ll try to talk about this more eloquently later…until now I defer to my favorite blogger:
Well I stayed up late for this, we might as well talk about it, yeah? Upon first (and second and third) listen, In Rainbows exceeds all the expectations we didn’t really have any time to develop. Some initial, hasty thoughts: not really feeling “Bodysnatchers,” but “Nude” through the almost dubby “House of Cards” is essentially a perfect 6-song sequence, highlighted by the “Julia”-esque “Faust Arp,” and the hypnotic, breakbeat-laden dreamscape, “All I Need.” My first impression is that this is the band’s most enchanting, instantly enjoyable work since OK Computer or Kid A. But that might have to do with the fact that it’s 2 AM. That’s all I’ll say for now, back to listening to “All I Need” and “Reckoner” for the 5th time. Oh, and the Black Lips killed on Conan too. Good night all around.
UPDATE: In Rainbows
It is working. I bought the discbox.
In Rainbows
Yowza. Still digesting. Will think about more later. Current mood: excited.
