Kanye West: "Heartless (Unmastered)" AUDIO

This interests me most from the standpoint of how Kanye rapidly recorded his new album and now is releasing trickle down, lower-quality, versions of the songs that will appear on the album. It could work out brilliantly for him and I think his free-flowing interaction (albeit mostly one way) with fans is something that, while not unheard of, is highly uncommon for a big name artist.

The song itself is fine – nothing that blows my mind on first listen but perhaps with a bit of editing it will work better. The rawness with which this whole album is unfolding is what is incredible. Via The FADER:

Kanye West: "Love Lockdown" VIDEO

Kanye is on some crazy next level tip. He debuted his new video for on Ellen, which featured an absolutely bizarre mix of visual aesthetics (white minimalism, sci-fi neon, tribalism), and after the video plays he seems honestly nervous about how people will respond. Via The FADER.

Kanye West: "Love Lockdown (MTV VMAs)" video

Kanye continues to be one of the most interesting artists of our generation, debuting his new single which inexplicably showcases a new found ability to sing (huh?), a verse that remains both minimalist and foreboding, and a chorus that is punctuated by tribal drumming. As a song, I have mixed feelings about but am stoked to hear how it sounds recorded – don’t ever claim the guy doesn’t do the unexpected. Via The FADER:

Jay-Z: "Jockin' Jay-Z (Live at MSG)" Video

If this doesn’t excite you then there is something wrong with your ears. This beat is dope (that guitar sample is hot as hell) and the possibility of a Blueprint 3 produced by Kanye is one of the best pieces of news I’ve heard in weeks (via The FADER):
