i can’t pin down james pants‘ new album seven seals, which is what i like about it so much. sometimes it sounds like a krautrock record but that isn’t true at all. still awe-struck that he is from spokane..buy it:
Description: Seven Seals was made while reading mystical books and the book of Revelations, and inspired by being in the mood to start a cult. This is the cult’s soundtrack.

it is freeeeeeeezing outside as of late and im about to head back to seattle for a week where it is snowing and between 20-30 degrees fahrenheit. i expect my fingers to fall off. who knows im hoping for the best.
james pants, prior to his proper release welcome, put out a couple dope mixtapes. this track is from ice castles, a collection of tracks that are ice cold and super bizarre. seems like fitting music to play while shivering – the synths and drums on this track are dope.

This dude is the ultimate freak – his music is off the wall but it somehow is coherent. Really plays to my obsession with obscure synth and drum machine sounds. There is so much I want to say about James Pants but not enough time right now – long story short, check out Rhythm Trax Vol. 1, Ice Castles and get excited for Welcome (via the FADER):
James Pants is on Stonesthrow and is making some of the wildest music out there. Amazing synth sounds, freaky sloppy rhythms, and bizarre instrumntation. Pick up Rhytm Trax Vol. 1 at Turntable lab for a taste of what is to come from his full length Welcome in May. Also, enjoy this song:
