The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century A.D.

A few days ago the ‘noids and I both twittered about this eccentric little Animated Web Series That Could over at IFC.com. But, in case you’re not the microblogging type (but are the regular blogging type? I’d guess very few of those people exist), this small, engaging project is definitely worth your eight minutes.

Comic book artist Dash Shaw (previously responsible for 2008′s Fantagraphics delight Bottomless Belly Button) also released Unclothed Man via Fantagraphics this month. Disparate animation styles and simple, hand drawn production value is the perfect vessel for a world where future-artists hone their still life sketches on rigid, unmoving droids. Our hero, Rebel X-6, is no droid. Defiance works best when you start small, I suppose.

Embedded is the first installment (watch the rest here), but the second and third chapters are my true favorites. That’s what we call a “hook” in the biz (what biz?):
