via BLDGBLOG:

on a day like today, i’m glad i rode my bike to work.
Nine Inch Nails, who I have never been super into musically, blew my mind last night with the release of Ghosts I-IV. It reminds me of Brian Eno’s more ambient work, albeit a bit rawer/darker. The most awesome part is that it is all released under a CC BY-NC-SA license, meaning it is available for free reuse, assuming you do so non-commercially and share your derivative works in the same license. Really cool to see a big musician get on board, and as the dudes at sneakmove said:
it’s a necessary thing in a modern, media-rich world where ideas are flying around so furiously.
I downloaded it all last night (the whole suite, for $5) and let me say that it more than worth it. if you want to get a taste before diving in, you can download the first set, Ghosts I, for free (the order page is here). There are a bunch of other options but they were all a bit much for me (although probably made NIN-heads go beserk).
Really amazing and quite experimental. Very dreamlike and feels like what stream-of-consciousness might be like if applied to music.
