Department of Eagles is a project from Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rosten that sounds somewhat similar to the mroe well-known of the two projects, but overall a bit different. This song is darker and clean-er than what I expect from Grizzly Bear (over-driven guitars, less reverb) but still has a spaced-out feeling and those vocal harmonies/melodies that makes Grizzly Bear so amazing to my ears. I’d say Department of Eagles is a bit tighter sounding overall, but it might also just be the ability to have a higher production value now that Grizzly Bear has done so well.
“No One Does IT Like You” has been around in various forms for a while but this is the version that will be on the upcoming DOE LP In Ear Park (via GvB):
