say mayday just pushed their latest shotwell piece live, basically a mini-documentary about a documentary where you get to peer in to the brain of renaissance creator alex klien. klein is straight up skate/surf kid turned film-maker/creative, taking his love of skating and finding cultural resonance amongst a bunch of surfer kids in gaza.
what i get from the piece more than anything is an honesty in what klien is doing – i’ve mentioned it a bunch before but people doing something that is artistically a natural extension of themselves is the most important thing to me. same goes for matt and jordan at say mayday, making shit they love and are inspired by, which in turn inspires further. its all cyclical.
