Luke Top: "Lord, Save Me From This Valley"

luke top makes soulful music that, while easily classifiable as folk/americana, transcends a lot of hang ups that i have with both those genres. i used to be a big folk guy but got pretty tired of the vibe – luke brings it back with some real emotion and his music is not only dope but genuine. honesty is the most important thing to me with music and in that regard luke is a saint. also doesn’t hurt that his music has tropical undertones (he is the lead singer of fool’s gold) and sounds, production wise, trĂ©s warm.

this track is my fav, and it really boils down to two things – the drums being a bit out of time at the outset and luke’s voice being bananas. go buy his new album from the homies at slow death records:
